Dr. Alan Cheung began his career in transplantation in 1992 at St. Francis Medical Center in Honolulu, where he pioneered pancreas transplants in Hawai‘i. He has performed over 600 kidney transplants, 35 simultaneous kidney-pancreas transplants, and 2 pancreas transplants. Dr. Cheung’s work has been published in numerous medical journals and he has been awarded many research grants. He has consistently been recognized in Honolulu Magazine’s Best Doctors issue, Pacific Business News’ Best Doctors Hawai‘i, and in Best Doctors in America.

Dr. Cheung brings over 20 years of transplant experience and over 8 years of executive leadership experience to the Queen’s Transplant Center, using best practices in system leadership and system quality improvement. In addition to serving as Medical Director of the Queen’s Transplant Center, he is also Vice-President of Medical Affairs at Castle Medical Center in Kailua, Hawai‘i, and is a Professor of Surgery for the University of Hawai‘i’s John A. Burns School of Medicine.
